Yixing Zisha Teapot Introduction

Crafted in Yixing’s historic Dingshu Town, the Zisha teapot reflects a thousand years of Chinese tea culture and artisan tradition. Each piece is formed from naturally occurring purple clay—selected, refined, and shaped entirely by hand. Its distinctive colors, from vermillion to deep purple, arise purely from the clay’s own minerals, without any glaze or additives.

Zisha is prized for its purity and breathability. When brewing, the pot allows tea to release fuller aroma and softer, rounder flavor. Over time, it develops a gentle, natural sheen, becoming a personal companion that records every cup.

Simple to care for—rinse with warm water and let dry naturally—an Yixing teapot is both a functional tool and a refined collectible, appreciated by tea lovers and connoisseurs around the world.

Heritage & Symbolism: The Rich Dragon (富贵龙)

The "Rich Dragon" (Fu Gui Long) design is a powerful expression of traditional Chinese iconography, blending the "scholarly spirit" of Yixing teaware with the auspicious symbolism of the dragon. In Chinese culture, the dragon is the ultimate emblem of vitality, prosperity, and success.

In the context of Zisha art, the dragon motif requires a master’s touch to ensure the ornamentation does not overwhelm the teapot's functional balance. This specific form is celebrated for its dignified structure and "dynamic stillness"—a teapot that commands presence on the tea table while remaining perfectly ergonomic for daily Gongfu tea practice. For collectors, the "Rich Dragon" represents a wish for abundance and a bridge to ancient imperial aesthetics.

The Maker: Master Fan Qinjun (范勤君)

Fan Qinjun is a premier contemporary Yixing Zisha artist whose works are synonymous with structural precision and museum-level quality. Known for his ability to breathe life into classical forms, Fan’s creations are considered investment-grade collectibles within the global Zisha community.

His mastery over Purple Clay (Zini/Zisha) is evident in the "Rich Dragon," where he balances robust, spirited lines with a refined, smooth finish. Fan Qinjun’s work is characterized by a "calm strength," a trait that has led his pieces to be archived by China’s most prestigious cultural institutions.
