The De Zhong is a classic Yixing form known for its balanced structure and steady, dignified presence. Crafted by artisan Liu Houdong using coarse sand red clay, this teapot showcases excellent breathability and a natural, mineral-rich texture.

Zisha’s unique double-pore structure allows the teapot to retain aroma without absorbing flavors, ensuring that each brew reveals the tea’s original fragrance and clarity. Its high air permeability prevents tea from spoiling, even when left for longer periods in summer.

With continued use, the red clay surface becomes increasingly warm, smooth, and lustrous, developing an elegant patina unique to its owner. This transformation—gentle, gradual, and refined—is part of the enduring charm of a true Yixing teapot.

A compact 160ml capacity makes this De Zhong ideal for Gongfu brewing, daily appreciation, and long-term collection.

Yixing Zisha Teapot Introduction

Crafted in Yixing’s historic Dingshu Town, the Zisha teapot reflects a thousand years of Chinese tea culture and artisan tradition. Each piece is formed from naturally occurring purple clay—selected, refined, and shaped entirely by hand. Its distinctive colors, from vermillion to deep purple, arise purely from the clay’s own minerals, without any glaze or additives.

Zisha is prized for its purity and breathability. When brewing, the pot allows tea to release fuller aroma and softer, rounder flavor. Over time, it develops a gentle, natural sheen, becoming a personal companion that records every cup.

Simple to care for—rinse with warm water and let dry naturally—an Yixing teapot is both a functional tool and a refined collectible, appreciated by tea lovers and connoisseurs around the world.

【Heritage】 The De Zhong Form
The De Zhong teapot is a classical Yixing shape originating from the Qing Dynasty. Known for its balanced structure and dignified presence, it embodies the aesthetic principle of stability and harmony. Its compact proportions and the triangular alignment formed by the spout, handle, and knob create a visual sense of steadiness and precision. As one of the most enduring traditional forms in Yixing history, the De Zhong is admired by collectors for both its practicality and long-term artistic value.
This shape is also regarded as a benchmark for craftsmanship, often used to assess an artisan’s overall control of proportion, symmetry, and firing technique.

【The Maker】 Liu Houdong

This teapot is handcrafted by Yixing artisan Liu Houdong, known for his steady handwork and mastery of red and sand-based clay bodies. His approach emphasizes clean lines, balanced proportions, and the natural character of the clay. Liu’s works carry a quiet, understated elegance, combining durability with refined simplicity—qualities that make them suitable for both daily brewing and long-term collection.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and comes with the artisan’s seal and certificate of authenticity, ensuring provenance and craftsmanship integrity.
