Description

Drawn directly from the imperial painting collections of the Forbidden City, this table mat translates the refined visual language of classical Chinese court art into an object made for everyday life.

The design centers three deeply auspicious motifs rendered in the meticulous gongbi brushwork tradition — each carrying layered meaning from centuries of Chinese symbolic culture.

A warm sandalwood ground keeps the palette grounded and sophisticated, complementing both traditional redwood furniture and contemporary interiors with equal ease.

The Symbolism

  • Fairy Peach — a classical emblem of longevity and immortality in Chinese court iconography
  • Pomegranate — representing abundance, fertility, and generational blessing
  • Seawater & Cliff Pattern (海水江崖) — the iconic fushan shouhai motif, symbolizing prosperity, permanence, and the enduring strength of the natural world

Why You'll Love It

  • Waterproof and water-resistant surface
  • Quick-drying and highly practical for daily use
  • Non-slip rubber base stays firmly in place
  • Formaldehyde-free, odor-free, and fade-resistant
  • Easy to roll up and store

Materials & Construction Fifth-generation eco PU leather. Eco-friendly precision printing faithfully renders fine gongbi line detail and rich sandalwood tones.

Care & Maintenance

Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth — no special products needed.

Everyday spills like water, coffee, tea, juice, and soup lift right off the surface.

For sauces that stain — think ketchup, hot sauce, chili oil, or oily condiments — blot and wipe promptly for best results.

Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, bleach, or anything abrasive. They'll dull the finish over time.

Store flat or loosely rolled when not in use.

It takes about 7-15 days to USA, Europe and Australia. To other countries, please refer to the actual logistics time or consult customer service.

The motifs on this mat draw from the imperial decorative arts preserved in the Palace Museum collection of the Forbidden City — among the most significant repositories of classical Chinese visual culture in the world. The gongbi painting technique, characterized by precise brushwork and rich color, was the dominant style of court artists during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The fushan shouhai seawater and cliff pattern appears across imperial robes, ceremonial objects, and architectural decoration as a symbol of enduring prosperity. At JiangnanSourcing, we translate these layered visual traditions into objects made for the contemporary home.
