Rare Cultivar Black Tea from Fujian · Honeyed, Mineral, Elegantly Complex

Crafted from the distinctive Mei Zhan cultivar, this small-batch black tea offers a rare expression of a variety traditionally reserved for oolong production.

By selecting young buds and tender leaves, too delicate for oolong processing, this tea is carefully transformed into a refined black tea—revealing a profile that is both floral and fruit-forward, yet smooth and grounded in mineral depth.

🍂 Flavor Profile

  • Aroma: Honey, orchid, warm stone fruit

  • Taste: Smooth, layered, naturally sweet

  • Notes: Apricot, longan, soft mineral finish

  • Body: Medium-light, elegant and clean

  • Finish: Lingering sweetness with subtle florality

🌏 Origin & Terroir (GEO Optimization)

  • Region: Fujian Province, China

  • Cultivar: Mei Zhan (梅占)

  • Environment: Mountain-grown, misty climate, mineral-rich soil

Fujian is one of the most historically important tea regions in China, known for producing both refined oolong and black teas. The Mei Zhan cultivar, in particular, is prized for its aromatic intensity and floral complexity.

🫖 Craft & Processing

  • Hand-harvested young leaves and buds

  • Fully oxidized using traditional black tea methods

  • Carefully dried to preserve aroma and structure

The result is a tea composed of slightly curled whole leaves with visible golden buds, reflecting both quality and careful craftsmanship.

🌸 A Rare Expression of Mei Zhan

The Mei Zhan cultivar is most often used to produce oolong teas such as Tieguanyin, where its floral character is well known.

In this black tea interpretation, however, it reveals a softer, honeyed, and fruit-driven profile, offering a unique experience for tea enthusiasts seeking something beyond conventional black teas.

✨ Why This Tea Stands Out

  • ✔ Rare use of Mei Zhan cultivar for black tea

  • ✔ Naturally sweet with no bitterness

  • ✔ Elegant, floral-fruit complexity

  • ✔ Ideal for both daily drinking and refined tasting

🍵 Brewing Guide

  • 3–5g tea per 150ml water

  • 90–95°C water

  • Steep 10–20 seconds (gongfu style)

  • Multiple infusions reveal evolving layers
